    HINT Project Open Day

    We are pleased to invite colleagues, students, and all interested visitors to the HINT Project Open Day, taking place on 23 December 2025, starting at 14:00, at the Faculty of Physics, University of Belgrade.

    The Open Day marks an opportunity to present the scientific achievements of the project Towards a Holographic Description of Noncommutative Spacetime: Insights from Chern-Simons Gravity, Black Holes and Quantum Information Theory, funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia. The program includes a review of the project, a poster session, a panel discussion on the future of quantum gravity, and highlights of the main research results.

    Visit to Vienna – Strengthening Collaboration with IQOQI Vienna

    Principal Investigator Dr. Dragoljub Gočanin and team member Dr. Aleksandra Gočanin recently completed a research visit to Vienna, where they spent several productive days at IQOQI Vienna, one of the leading international institutes in quantum science. The visit was carried out within the framework of the project activities and aimed at strengthening international collaboration in the areas of quantum foundations and quantum gravity.

    During the visit, both participants took part in a series of seminars and scientific discussions focused on recent theoretical developments, open conceptual challenges, and emerging research directions. These activities provided an excellent platform for exchanging ideas with researchers working at the forefront of quantum information theory, gravitational physics, and related interdisciplinary fields.

    In addition to attending seminars, Dragoljub and Aleksandra participated in internal meetings and focused brainstorming sessions with institute members. Together with their host professor Časlav Brukner, they reviewed recent scientific progress, discussed complementary research approaches, and identified several promising directions for future collaboration. Special attention was devoted to potential joint publications and future research visits.

    Beyond its scientific importance, the visit significantly strengthened existing partnerships and helped establish new professional connections that will support long-term international cooperation. The stimulating and open research environment at IQOQI Vienna proved to be an excellent setting for developing new ideas and deepening ongoing collaborations.

    Overall, the visit to Vienna was highly successful and represents an important step forward in expanding the international dimension of the project. The outcomes of the visit, together with the newly outlined collaborative plans, will directly contribute to future research activities and project results.

    We are happy to share that our team participated in the Workshop on Noncommutative and Generalized Geometry in String Theory, Gauge Theory, and Related Physical Models, held from September 17–24, 2024, in beautiful Corfu, Greece (Detailed program of the workshop can be found at https://physics.ntua.gr/corfu2024/Program/nc.pdf). 

    Our team member Dušan Đorđević gave an insightful talk about our latest findings, sparking engaging discussions with fellow researchers. It was a fantastic opportunity for collaboration, learning, and sharing ideas!

    Exciting News from the “Black Holes and Chaos” Conference! 

    We are thrilled to share that Dr. Dragoljub Gocanin, the Principal Investigator of our HINT project, and our PhD student and team member, Dušan Djordjević, participated in the three-day international scientific conference titled ‘Black Holes and Chaos’. This conference, hosted by the Mathematical Institute of SASA, was opened on September 4th at the SASA Hall 2.

    This conference brought together leading experts to explore the intriguing properties of black holes through the lens of string theory and related fields. The discussions ranged from the microstructure of black holes, recent advancements in black hole thermodynamics, and black hole solutions in string theory, to diverse classical and quantum solutions like microstate geometries, fuzzballs, wormholes, holography, and holographic CFTs dual to black holes, as well as insights from matrix models in black hole physics (more information at https://sites.google.com/view/black-holes-and-chaos/).

    Dr. Dragoljub Gocanin gave an invited talk, providing his insights on some of the latest developments in the field. Meanwhile, Dušan Djordjević represented our team at the poster session, where he presented our latest research findings.

  • Short-term visit to Chile

    Short-term visit to Chile

    During August 2024 our PhD students were on an exciting study visit to Chile, where they expanded their academic horizons! 

    They visited two prestigious universities: Federico Santa María Technical University in Santiago de Chile and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso. We were honored to have Professor Oliver Mišković, our valued external collaborator, and Professor Vladimir Juricic, PhD supervisor of our team member Ana Djordjević, as their hosts.

    A highlight of the trip has been the workshop organized by our gracious hosts at the theoretical physics department, where our PhD students are presenting their cutting-edge research and exchanging ideas with their Chilean peers (more at https://fis.ucv.cl/chilean-serbian-student-workshop-on-theoretical-physics/).

    HINT project seminar alert

    Today, our team member Dušan Đorđević gave an excellent talk at the Institute of Physics Belgrade as part of the seminar series of the Group for Gravitation, Particles, and Fields.

    Title: QFT on Fuzzy AdS Spaces: Classical Limit and Boundary Correlation Functions

    What was it about?

    Dušan explored the properties of fuzzy AdS space in two and three dimensions, analyzing how a scalar field propagates in this quantum spacetime. He introduced the concept of semi-classical states, which allows us to discuss fuzzy analogs of classical points and boundaries. By studying the boundary behavior of the field and the classical limit of fuzzy spacetime, he derived key results for correlation functions in this setting.

    Why does this matter?

    Understanding quantum fields on fuzzy AdS spaces is essential for extending the holographic duality (AdS/CFT) to noncommutative spaces and provides new insights into quantum gravity.

    We had the pleasure of meeting with our external collaborator, Professor Olivera Mišković, to discuss our latest results and explore new directions for our research. Her insights and expertise are invaluable as we continue to push the boundaries of theoretical physics.

    These meetings remind us how essential collaboration is in analyzing complex problems. We’re looking forward to the next steps and new challenges ahead!

    Short – term visit UniWien

    Our team members, Dušan and Ivana, are currently visiting the University of Vienna and the renowned group led by Professor Časlav Brukner. This group is well-known for their groundbreaking work on quantum spacetime through the lens of quantum reference frames.

    During their visit, one of our members had the privilege of presenting a journal club talk, sparking a friendly and engaging discussion about constructing quantum AdS spacetime using noncommutative geometry.
