New research paper

We’re excited to announce that our team member Ana Đorđević has authored a new research paper:

Symmetry-based theory of Dirac fermions on two-dimensional hyperbolic crystals: Coupling to the spin connection (https://arxiv.org/abs/2507.08276)

In this work, Ana investigates discrete fermionic and bosonic models on hyperbolic lattices, inspired by recent experimental realizations of hyperbolic crystals. While these models have gained attention, the essential spin-curvature coupling for fermions has remained largely unexplored — until now.

The paper introduces a symmetry-based framework for Dirac fermions on 2D hyperbolic lattices, incorporating spin connection effects derived from the Poincaré disk symmetries. This approach links to continuum Dirac theory. predicts enhanced zero-energy density of states and reveals how noncommutative geometry naturally arises when defining translation operators on curved backgrounds

Ana’s research visit to Chile and collaboration with her supervisor Professor Vladimir Juričić were essential to the success of this project.

We’re proud of Ana’s contribution to the growing field of quantum systems in curved geometries!
