We’re excited to share that our HINT team members Dušan Đorđević and Dragoljub Gočanin (PI) have co-authored a new research paper: Rotating frames from quantum deformed spacetime (https://arxiv.org/abs/2507.11637).
In this work, the authors explore a specific relation between noncommutative (NC) twist deformations and reference frame transformations. In particular, they have shown that, when it comes to the dynamics of electrically charged matter, an isometry-based Killing twist of Melvin’s electric universe can be interpreted in a purely kinematic fashion – as a transition to a rotating frames of reference with angular velocity determined by the scale of spacetime noncommutativity and the electric charge of the matter field. This effect of NC rotation can be used as a probe of small-scale structure of spacetime using Sagnac interferometry.
